Your wedding invitation beautifully sets the tone for your wedding day design. 2017 wedding design has shifted towards a clean, fresh look for the décor of the wedding day, including wedding invitations. We recently spoke with Darby Cards Collective about fabulous wedding invitation and calligraphy trends that brides are loving this year for a fresh, minimal look.
This year, a more modern style is starting to replace the shabby chic, burlap and mason jar look from previous years. “I am seeing more clean, crisp, urban styled invitations with just an accent of color or two, like a sprig of greenery for the bohemian or outdoorsy bride or a pop of color in the monogram at the top of the invitation for the more traditional bride.” This style of wedding invitation perfectly compliments the more minimal, modern look that brides are loving for 2017.
Watercolor and greenery are both very fresh and popular designs this wedding season. With the 2017 Pantone color of the year being Greenery, a vibrant lime, brides are loving to incorporate this unique shade into their wedding day. Darby Cards Collective mentions that patterns are still being used, but the pattern will most likely be something very subdued, like a beautiful marble. “Definitely not the geometric side of modern we typically think of; it’s more of a clean, minimalist style.”
When it comes to color palettes, gold and copper metals as well as softer colors like blush are mint are going to be very popular throughout 2017. This also applies to the fonts brides are loving. A light and airy calligraphy mixed with a modern sas serif font is a great crisp look with a touch of personality shining through the calligraphy.
There has also been a comeback in invitation design, letterpress. Letterpress is the oldest form of printing and requires less ink colors than the watercolor or floral invitation with a more straightforward design. “Together with this printing process, an elegant and timeless invitation is created.” We love these clean, fresh wedding invitation designs that are trending for 2017 weddings!
