The passion that Mariah and Kyle have for helping others led them toward their careers in the medical field. They met during a medical mission trip to Kenya in 2011 as they spread their love to help those in need. Mariah thought he was handsome and kind, but did not know that a relationship would spark. This completely changed when they went on another trip to Nigeria in 2013. Mariah and Kyle worked very long days at the hospital.
“Despite the long hours, the whole group found time to eat dinner and play games when we got ‘home’ in the evenings, and I treasured this time. This trip, our two week ‘pre-date interview’ was one of the most special times in my life. It helped me start falling in love with a man who loves to help others, who is willing to give up his own comfort to care for those in need.”
One Sunday afternoon, Kyle simply and romantically proposed to Mariah as they were cuddled on the couch. Their wedding planning experience led to a beautiful day at Ravenswood Mansion. Mariah and Kyle wanted to appreciate the nature surrounding them on their wedding day. Vases were filled with colorful spring flowers set against the dark grain of the farm tables. The design was naturally beautiful!
When Mariah and Kyle saw each other for the first time on their wedding day, their hearts were full. From the bride, “When I first saw Kyle in his dapper blue suit, I felt an overwhelming sense of peace. Here was my person, and he is going to be my person for the rest of my life.” From the groom, “When I first saw my beautiful bride, I think we both laughed a little and I realized that I was not at all nervous, but happy and relaxed. I believe that’s how we both felt all day.”
Mariah and Kyle were surrounded by love on their wedding day. From the bride: “The most emotional moment for me was taking my daddy’s arm and starting down the aisle. Holding the arm of the man who has been there for me my whole life, heading towards my future husband, was truly special. Later, dancing with my mom to Love Shack, I was brought back to my childhood when she had happily danced to that song at my aunt and uncle’s wedding each of the many times I requested it from the DJ.”
