Jamie & Matt said their I Do’s on October 18, 2015 at the beautiful Drakewood Farm in Middle Tennessee. Their Southern, classy wedding was a gorgeous affair that could never be forgotten, but their love story is something extra special all on its own.
Matt, visiting from Chicago, came to Middle Tennessee to spend Christmas 2012 with his parents. During his trip, he accidentally met the love of his life when he was pulled over for speeding by handsome Deputy Sheriff, Jamie. Matt was upset when he got pulled over, but when he saw Jamie come to his window, he was only focused on him. Jamie took Matt’s information and sent him away with a warning.
Little did Matt know, he would see Jamie again on social media on Christmas Eve. Matt sent him a message and thanked him for the warning, and the two kept chatting from there. Then, Matt was on his way home from a Christmas party when Jamie asked to meet up. “After already accidentally meeting him a couple of nights before, I couldn’t help but say yes. We met, had drinks, and talked all night long. That’s when I realized that was one time I was sure glad I was breaking the law.“
Matt planned the surprise proposal in Nashville, Tennessee. He had gotten tickets to a Jason Aldean concert and arranged dinner at the couple’s favorite restaurant – Rumors East (Matt told Jamie that a few of their friends would be traveling over two hours just to join them for dinner on a freezing night in February, but Jamie still did not get the hint).
During dessert, Matt told Jamie that there were just a couple of things that could make life better. He told him he wanted to start a family of their own someday, but also that marrying Jamie would make him the happiest guy in the world. “He turned to me and looked so confused with a mouth full of chocolate cake and another bite on the fork, and asked if I was serious as if he didn’t understand. After I said yes and repeated the question he said YES!”
Matt and Jamie got dressed together the morning of the wedding at the beautiful Drakewood Farm. Matt remembers Jamie not knowing how to tie his tie, so he helped him while reminiscing on the night they met, and how he had met his soulmate.
Matt and Jamie wanted a rustic, country wedding with the class of a city. Nashville had always been their favorite city, which was the perfect location for their vision. The ceremony took place in the beautiful, rustic barn at Drakewood Farm with vintage lanterns lining the aisles. The reception took place in the new pavilion that was built around the barn. Chalkboards with the newlywed’s favorite quotes adorned the space.
“Everything was beautiful and it turned out better than we could have ever imagined. We had our perfect fall October wedding ceremony in the rustic barn at Drakewood Farm. A delicious dinner, drinks and dancing, and gathering around the fire pit to roast marshmallows for s’mores with friends and family.”
