Kayla & Alek

Kayla & Alek are a beautiful Southern couple who met at a very young age at Fairview Middle School. After dating later on for seven years, these middle school sweethearts knew they were meant to be.

Kayla and Alek had a beautiful May wedding at Fernvale Community Church. Kayla had always wanted a traditional wedding and dreamed of saying I Do inside a little white country church. Kayla’s dream wedding came true at the little white church as she married the love of her life!

Alek planned a very romantic, special proposal for his dream girl, Kayla. After a nice dinner, a limousine pulled up to the restaurant, and Alek told Kayla that it was for them. He got down on one knee and popped the question! Everyone around the couple was cheering and honking their car horns. Then, Alek planned a Nashville Christmas lights tour in the limousine, which was very special. Alek and Kayla love looking at Christmas lights every year.

Kayla and Alek wanted their wedding day to be very traditional. They did not see each other until Kayla walked down the aisle. From the bride: “We were both super nervous and when we joined hands and looked at each other it was like everyone else in the room disappeared. After the ceremony we shared a private, emotional moment together in the hall. This was the first time since Alek and I had been together (7 years) that I had seen him cry. We were just so happy.”

The decor throughout the wedding was focused around a light pink, cream, and white color palette with a lot of lace and pearls. Kayla and her mother spent over one year making flower arrangements, bouquets, favor boxes, and signs to place around the ceremony and reception spaces. Kayla loved the traditional feel of the hardwood floors and church pews at Fernvale Community Church. Kayla adored the candy bar display at the reception as well as the photos of the young Kayla and Alek placed on tables. Kayla and Alek also used mixed china dishes with candles and large flower arrangements on the tables.

Kayla loved bringing in sentimental pieces into the wedding day, such as the young photos and wearing her mother’s earrings that she wore when marrying Kayla’s father. The ring bearer carried the rings on Kayla’s great grandmother’s bible that was given to her after her great grandmother had passed away. Kayla and her mom also cut pieces of lace from her mother’s wedding dress to wrap around Kayla’s bouquet!

From the bride: “My favorite special gift was a doll that my dad bought for me. It was a porcelain bride doll. He wrote me a special letter and displayed it next to the doll on a table at our reception. I did not know about it until I saw it setting up for the reception. I have it on display at our home now so I can tell its story. I can hopefully pass it on to our future children.”
