A gorgeous wedding makeup look begins with amazing products. We know all of you brides want to look absolutely amazing on your wedding day, so we recently spoke with professional wedding makeup artist, Alina Karaman, to gather some incredible, long-lasting products for a flawless face!
Face
For a beautiful base, Alina Karaman prefers to use airbrush, because it is a very lightweight, yet powerful coverage. Airbrush makeup really blends into the skin with a great coverage that still allows the skin to be seen. Because of the type of application of airbrush makeup, the coverage stays put throughout the day. These results can also be achieved with a classic liquid foundation; Alina Karaman prefers using a liquid foundation for fuller coverage. If you are a bride that typically uses heavier foundations in your everyday life, then a liquid foundation could be a great option for you!
For concealer, it is best to stick with a lighter formula. Alina Karaman loves MAC Select Cover-Up Concealer. This can be mixed with a liquid foundation or thicker concealer if more coverage is needed. It is very important to set the concealer with a great powder, such as Ben Nye Luxury Powder, and touch up after the makeup sets (in about 30 minutes) to make sure the makeup does not have a cakey look!
Brides love finding a great product that won’t budge throughout the wedding day. The secret here is to have a good base. Think about painters; they must cover walls with primer before the paint can be applied. The same rule applies to makeup! Well-prepared skin holds makeup very well. This can be achieved through a wonderful primer, such as MAC Prep+Prime Smoother and Eve Pearl’s Powderless Powder for the t-zone. For mature skin, Alina Karaman loves using Amazing Cosmetics Anti-Aging Face Primer. Eyeshadow primers are also very important for your wedding day. A great eyeshadow primer will keep your eyeshadow on for the entire day; Alina Karaman recommends Tarte 12 Hour Eye Primer. “It really works!”
Eyes
Alina Karaman uses a lot of beautiful MAC eyeshadow colors and also suggests Anastasia Beverly Hills and Senna for their wonderful quality. Alina Karaman typically uses waterproof Covergirl or L’oreal brands for mascaras and MAC Pencil Liners, Eve Pearl Smudgeproof Liner, and Stilla Stay All Day Waterproof for eyeliners. These eyeliners are very soft and easy to blend!
Application
You brides may have heard that application of makeup is just as important as the quality products that you decide to use. This is absolutely true! When Alina Karaman applies airbrush face makeup, the foundation is applied through an air-gun, but she always uses her MAC Duo-Fibre Brush for primers/bases. The Beauty Blender is an amazing tool for an even, airbrushed foundation look, but make sure to wet the Beauty Blender before using it! Small Beauty Blenders are also available for perfect coverage of concealers and the under-eye area. For powder, Ben Nye is a great option when applied with the MAC Tapered Face Brush. This brush is pointy and is very useful for the under-eye area as well!
