for the buffet and cake table. Otherwise,
you may have a crooked looking cake
in your pictures, or worse yet, your cake
or food may tumble off the table.
Let the caterers help you create a menu with
·
lots of different appetizers. Eating a heavy
buffet meal in hot weather is not a good
combination. A few good choices for summer
fare are: cold fresh melon and berries with
yogurt dips, petite shrimp salad puffs, capers
skewers (fresh mini mozzarella balls, red
onion, fresh chopped basil, and herb vinai-
grette drizzle), prosciutto wrapped asparagus,
cold antipasto with delightful imported and
domestic meats, cheeses and olives includ-
ing various spreads and breads; cucumber
soup shooters, pita points and baguette
toast rounds with spreads of hummus and
bruschetta, and crisp crudities with dip.
Having an ice cream station with syrups,
·
fruit condiments, sprinkles, and whipped
cream is a great feature for all ages.
Have the grass around the tent treated for
·
bugs and flying insects prior to the reception.
Provide lots of cold water for your guests.
·
A bar is nice, but water keeps you cooler
than alcoholic beverages. You'll also
need more ice for a summer reception.
Ask that the beverages be available im-
mediately after the wedding ceremony.
Use mini white lights in your tents. This
·
adds a magical touch to the night. LED
battery operated lights can be placed in
vases with colored glass rocks. Elevate
food trays on these vases for a fun set-up.
There is nothing like dancing outside under a
·
tent with all of your friends. Renting a dance
floor might prevent stumbling on uneven
areas. A DJ can play your favorite tunes and
make announcements such as the first dance,
a toast, and the cutting of the wedding cake.

attire no matter what. Have a good friend
keep face blotters, lipstick and hairspray
handy. You may need a quick touch-up
during all the different photo shots.
It is your day, and your budget. Get pricing for
everything up front so you know what you can or
cannot afford to do. Talk to other people that had a
similar wedding. This may help you decide whether
or not an outdoor wedding is what you really want.
Planning ahead is the key. Lastly, hiring reputable
vendors will allow you to relax and have a very
happy wedding day.
