Mariam and Serkan met for the first time through their love of poetry; they caught glimpses of each other at a poetry slam as they both love to write and perform. Serkan had seen Mariam perform her pieces on her career are a doctor. Little did Mariam know, he was very interested in her. Mariam later saw Serkan perform one of his poems, and then reached out to him on Facebook. Their passion of poetry brought them together and led to an unforgettable love story. From the bride, “I believe he attempted to propose many times but something always came up. I think, one day, he just wanted it done! We had breakfast and went for a stroll on the golf course. He whisked me away to a beautiful set up area surrounded by flowers. He got down on a knee and recited on of my favorite love poems and then asked the question.”
Mariam dreamed of a rustic wedding day with nods of vibrant and lavish design decor. She studied at the University of Sydney, and it has always held great value to her. She remembers telling her dad that she wanted to get married on the university lawns when he visited her, which she made happen for her dream wedding day with Serkan! Mariam adores the lawns, architecture, and bells at Sydney University. Floral Designer, Anna Wang, brought the wedding ceremony and reception to life. “The enchanted starlight pieces just took my breath away. It just couldn’t have looked better.”

Mariam’s favorite moments from the day include walking down the aisle with her father, the the emotional exchange of vows, and the fun bridal room. “Exchanging of the vows was also so emotional. But the funniest part was the bridal room which was really a lecture room. The bridal party managed to get karaoke up on the power point. Champagne, karaoke and a bridal party = BEST COMBINATION.” Mariam and Serkan had a fun-filled, intimate wedding day full of sweet sentiments and tender moments that they could never forget. We wish them a lifetime of love! Tips from the bride for your own wedding day, “Don’t sweat the small stuff! Just remember it’s YOUR day – a celebration of your relationship. Serkan and I knew the day would go by so quick, so we had a plan that we would step aside for five minutes without distraction and just watch everyone celebrate our day. We did that, and it was so overwhelming. Take it all in!”
