Decadent, Delicious Key West Cakes


Key West is such a special location for a wedding whether you are a local or destination bride. It is so much fun to incorporate that Key West island feel into your wedding décor, design, and your delicious wedding cake. We recently spoke with Key West Cakes about cake flavors and designs that brides are loving for their beautiful Key West weddings this season.




When it comes to Key West wedding cakes, brides love to include an island feel into their cake flavors. “Seeing that we are in the Keys, key lime cake is usually our number one choice for weddings!” The key lime cake is often paired with light key lime mousse or raspberry jam as a filling. Other popular combinations this season include coconut cake with key lime mousse filling, chocolate cake with a chocolate ganache filling, and white cake with mango filling. “There is really no traditional option anymore though, we see every flavor combination imaginable!”





The naked cake has been in the spotlight for wedding cake design the past several seasons along with gold accented cakes and geometric inspired looks. Key West Cakes’ classic beach and ocean themed cakes with white chocolate seashells are always popular for beautiful beach weddings. Fresh flowers are also very popular right now on a textured buttercream iced cake. This look is rustic while remaining elegant, and the blooms bring a beautiful freshness to the cake.




After graduating from the Culinary Institute of America, Paul Rutigliano began working as a chef in Key West. He was asked to make a wedding cake for the first time in his life, and he loved it! He began making cakes from home in 2001 and later moved to a production shop.
