One of the most exciting aspects of planning your wedding is deciding which delicious dishes and hors d’oeuvres you will serve your beloved wedding guests on your special day. Of course, the best way to choose which dishes to serve is by tasting several different options. We recently spoke with Chef Chris Bulgarin from Delicious Catering Services about everything that you need to know about menu tastings and menu tasting etiquette.

For a bridal tasting, Delicious Catering Services prepares enough dishes for the bride and groom to take leftovers home. They prepare dishes that fit the couple’s taste and also incorporate some dishes that represent their company well. Delicious Catering Services focuses on “Miami Flare” for their dishes. Some fabulous options that have the Delicious Catering Services feel include Grilled Angus Skirt Steak served on a Roasted Garlic Plantain Mash, Grilled Asparagus, Homemade Chimmichurri and finished with a Plantain Chifla. Another incredible, fresh option is the Palmito and Avocado Salad with Palm Hearts, Hass Avocado, Heirloom Cherry Tomatoes, Cilantro, Red Onions, and Red Pepper finished with a Cilantro Vinaigrette.

You may be wondering how many people and what to bring to your tasting. It is important to bring a pen and paper to take notes, and to remember your favorite dishes. Also, you don’t want to forget your cell phone to snap some pictures! Delicious Catering Services recommends bringing no more than five people to the tasting, such as the groom, mother and father of the bride, and coordinator. This way, opinions do not mix, and you can focus on the dishes that you truly love. Also, make sure to bring your appetite!

When deciding which dishes to serve at your wedding, follow your instincts. It is important to serve dishes that you truly love and will be proud to serve your guests. “If you are trying to please every guest, that will never work. Go for what you and your groom love.” This will show off your personality as a couple and give your guests an idea of the types of foods that you enjoy. Delicious Catering Services recommends serving about 3 hors d’oeuvres and 2-3 dishes for your guests. This way, guests will have plenty of options and will have the opportunity to experience different flavors throughout the night.
