Styling your Valentine’s Day Wedding

Happy Valentine’s Day! This is the day when you and the special person in your life celebrate the love you share together, and what could be more romantic than getting married on a day dedicated to love? Check out these tips from Los Angeles based designers, Valerie and Stephanie Chin on how to style your perfect Valentine’s Day wedding.

Bridal Style: Something in soft blush tones would be perfect and ooze romantic glam on Valentine’s Day. A gown with an ornate beaded bodice or beaded sheer back is romantic, lavish, and perfect for the bride who wants to stand out on her big day. Or go all out and wear a red dress!

Hors D’oeurves:  If you plan on having a cocktail hour during your wedding this is where you can get creative with your wedding hors d’oeuvres. Speak with your caterer and wedding coordinator to see if you can incorporate some heart shaped foods into your wedding day. Typical canapes and appetizers can be transformed into the perfect Valentine’s Day finger food. Your guests will fall in love with savory treats like heart shaped grilled cheese paired with tomato soup shot glasses. Love raviolis? Seasonal winter favorites like winter squash stuffed raviolis can be cut into a heart shape and fried making it easy for guests to eat.

Flowers: Say it with flowers and don’t worry you can never have too many. Just because February is chilly doesn’t mean there won’t be any selection for flowers. Be sure to consult with your florist and ask for seasonal flowers and you will get beautiful results and an added bonus is your wallet will thank you. Some great flowers that are available in February are tulips, snap dragons, magnolia’s, hydrangea’s, and the increasingly popular ranunculus.

Dessert: From chocolate covered strawberries, mini red velvet cakes, to cupcakes with heart shaped decorations the options are endless. We love the idea of a dessert bar where guests can help themselves to heart shaped cookies, berry filled heart shaped hand pies, and lemon tarts. If we are talking about dessert, then we can’t forget about the cake. A naked red velvet cake would be perfect as your wedding day cake because minimal decorations are necessary and it is in the perfect color scheme of red and white. If traditional is more your style, then a white butter cream fondant cake accented with pink or red sugar flowers would be perfect. Don’t forget about the cake topper! Heart shaped toppers would be the perfect touch to your cake.
