Matt Gardner and Katie Shytle officially met each other through friends in August 2011. Overtime, their love has grown for each other. Katie fell in love with Matt’s patience and his ability to keep her calm. Matt fell in love with Katie’s heart and willingness to see the good in everyone she meets, including him. On July 31, Matt proposed to Katie at Ocean Isle Beach in North Carolina.
The two were on a family vacation, and one night after dinner the guys took Katie’s four nephews and one niece down to the beach before bed. A little later, Katie and her sisters went down to the beach to join the guys. Once Katie got to the beach, each kid was holding a sign that spelled out “Will you marry me?” Matt was waiting in the distance and as she walked toward him, he knelt down on one knee and proposed.
“Once we had our little moment alone, I turned around and saw my whole family waiting with champagne! We had a great night celebrating and sharing the news with family and friends. It was a night I will never forget!”
