Picking the Perfect Centerpiece for Your Wedding

Picking the perfect centerpiece to go on the tables at your reception takes more work than just finding a nice picture on Pinterest. There are a lot of things to consider including what meal you’re going to serve, what tables you’re going to have, and what atmosphere or vibe you want the room to have. We spoke with Knestrick by Design and came up with these tips for selecting the perfect centerpiece for your wedding.

The first thing you need to consider when selecting your centerpiece is what kind of tables you’re going to have. You don’t want your centerpiece to look out of place. Instead, it should enhance and elevate the rest of the design concept. If you’re going to have rectangular tables you will want to use a garland or mix smaller arrangements down the center of the table. If you’re going to have round tables you need to know what size the tables are so the centerpiece doesn’t take over the entire table.

The next thing you need to consider is what kind of food you’re going to serve. If you’re going to have a seated dinner with the tables set when guests arrive, you may want to consider a smaller centerpiece. You don’t want the centerpiece to make the table feel busy or crowded. If you’re going to serve small appetizers or have a buffet-style dinner, you may consider choosing a larger centerpiece to fill some of the empty space on the table.

Lastly, you need to decide if you want to have tall or low centerpieces. You either want your flowers to be below eye level or above your head so your guests can see each other throughout dinner. Deciding on tall or short arrangements depends on the type of room the reception will be in. If there will be lofty ceilings at your venue, you may want to choose taller centerpieces to help fill some of the space. However, if you do use tall centerpieces, try alternating between low and tall arrangements to avoid cluttering the space.
