Ashley & Stewart

Ashley Confroy and Stewart Hartley met on a softball field 4.5 years ago. Playing for a work team, Stewart plays shortstop and Ashley plays second base. As their friends like to joke, “sparks flew while turning two.” Years later on a special date night after watching planes take off at the RDU observatory deck the couple went to dinner at Angus Barn where Stewart proposed.

The couple got married on June 10 at The Merrimon-Wynne House in Raleigh, North Carolina. When they first saw each other on their wedding day their hearts were full of love and they couldn’t wait to become husband and wife.

The entire day was special and filled with love and laughter. Ashley and Stewart got married outside under a stunning pergola decorated with cascading flowers. It was an elegant wedding decorated with a few touches of greenery and pops of coral and navy. Celebrating their marriage with their closest friends and family was what was really important to them on that day.

The most special part of the day for Ashley and Stewart was their unity ceremony during the wedding ceremony. They each wrote a letter describing their feelings on the wedding day and did not show each other what they had written. Then they sealed the letters with a bottle of wine in a box that will be opened on their one year wedding anniversary.

“The day was absolutely perfect in every way from getting ready, to first looks, our romantic ceremony, to the heartfelt toasts and fun filled reception, and lastly to our sparkly exit hopping on a rickshaw and riding through downtown Raleigh.” – Ashley
