Wedding Invitation Trends for 2016

While mailing out wedding invitations will never go out of style, how wedding invitations are styled changes every year. Your wedding invitation is oftentimes the first thing people see of your wedding. It sets the tone of your actual wedding day and lets your guests know it’s important to have them with you on your special day. We spoke with Darby Cards to find out what invitation styles are trending this year.

As far as wedding invitation colors go, gold is the go-to selection for brides this year. Foil stamping your invitations shows everyone that your wedding is going to be sophisticated and luxurious. Burgundy and navy are also making their way into the spotlight and are sure to be popular color choices this fall. Mixing these darker and more formal colors with light blush and ivory tones creates a stunning color palette.

For your invitation design, a lot of brides are choosing hand-written scripts or calligraphy for the text. This trend makes your invitations look more personal and elegant. Another trend is incorporating organic, natural elements into your invitations. Adding some water-colored greenery or a floral pattern in the envelope liner gives your invitation a pop of refreshing color.

Selecting wedding invitations should be a fun experience for you and your groom. Take some time and look at different color palettes, designs, and think about what all you really need to mail to your guests. If there’s two styles you’re having the hardest time choosing between, pick one for the wedding invitation and one for the thank you notes. Don’t let this detail overwhelm you and keep you from having the wedding of your dreams.
