While no groom ever desires to outshine his bride-to-be, it’s only fitting that he should complement her while looking absolutely dashing. For Ernesto Ibanez, it was important to not look like every other groom in the South Florida vicinity on his wedding day: “I wanted to wear something that no one else had worn, especially for our wedding. And I wanted it made to fit me perfectly so I could feel my very best on the most important day of our lives.” Ultimately, with the guidance at My Grooms Room, Ernesto selected a gorgeous midnight blue tuxedo with a black shawl lapel and accents for his wedding at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Miami.
Personalization was a huge priority for Ernesto:
“Sebastian and his team’s attention to detail and their ability to customize any tuxedo/suit to each individual’s fit is something that is rare to find. Being able to own my tuxedo eliminated the nuisances that come with renting a tuxedo: not fitted, previously worn, not MINE.”
The groom’s outfit changed a bit depending on the evening’s activities – “For the ceremony, Ernesto had your traditional tuxedo look, incorporating a black cummerbund. However, for the reception, we changed things up a bit, having him lose the cummerbund and putting on suspenders. This change in wardrobe was all Sebastian’s idea. As the night progressed, so did the ‘fun’ one expects to experience at a wedding, and Sebastian wanted to make sure that Ernesto portrayed just that.”
My Groom’s Room recommends tropical weight fabrics in order to make men’s formalwear appropriate for the South Florida climate. For late fall, they love to use darker colors such as navy or gray. Garcia explains the process he undergoes with clients like Ibanez: “The first consultation we gave him a full spectrum of choices with colors and styles and began to narrow down until he chose the one that matched him and the theme most.” Next, “We gathered everyone’s information, measurements, and any other extra details about the venue and overall event to ensure the entire wedding party was dressed appropriately. As the groom and groomsmen started coming in we began the tailoring process to ensure everyone looked their best.” Garcia stresses the importance of gathering all of the information about the wedding – venue, guest attire, time of event, etc – first and foremost, to ensure the perfect look for the perfect occasion.
