When planning a destination wedding, the best way to make sure that your wedding day will be seamless is to work with an experienced wedding planner. Sari Sosa brought a stunning wedding day to life for Barbie and Jesse, who reside in Chile. Barbie and Jesse wanted to have their wedding day in sunny Miami with 85 percent of wedding guests traveling from all over the world. Sari was able to create a breathtaking wedding for the couple after just two face-to-face appointments.
Barbie and Jesse flew to Miami to begin their wedding planning with Sari Sosa, and to discuss the challenges of planning the wedding from afar. They addressed various channels of communication available, including Skype and What’s App. Sari strategically planned out the two visits with multiple appointments to take place each day.
Sari found three different hotel options with different price ranges for the wedding guests, and this information was placed on the wedding website. Sari mentions the importance of communication between the couple and their wedding party and invited guests. Strong communication will make travel and arrival time much more pleasurable and enjoyable for everyone.
The wedding had a rustic, romantic feel with lots of candlelight and a color palette of blushes, ivory, and touches of gold accents. Sari also incorporated elements from the couple’s traditions and cultures into the design of the wedding. One of the most common traditions in Chile is to display an elaborate dessert table in addition to the wedding cake. Barbie and Jesse had over 900 pieces of delicious delicacies for guests to enjoy. Jesse’s Jewish tradition included the breaking of the glass at the end of the ceremony. These traditions were the perfect touch in blending two cultures into one.
When planning a wedding with many out of town guests, Sari suggests keeping lines of communication going on a weekly basis with conference calls and Skype webcasts. Also, tight time management, keeping yourself accountable for completion of to-do lists, and keeping the couple and guests focused on the love and beauty of the day are necessary elements for a seamless, over-the-top wedding. When planning a destination wedding, it is necessary to establish trust with your planner. “This trust will create the magic of the day.”
