Winter weddings might be on the chilly side, but that doesn’t mean the food has to be too! According to Corner Catering, a division of Corner Pub located in Nashville, Tenn., “warm” food trends have taken over winter weddings so far this year.
“Comfort foods are big this year, whether they be buffet [style] or stations. Mini burgers and fries in monogramed cones or bags… fun presentations for fun food!”
Some other delicious foods they’ve been seeing for winter are pork loin, sage and cranberry stuffed chicken breast, sweet and mashed potato bars, yummy winter salads with craisins, pecans, apples and field greens! “Pretty, colorful food!”
This is starting to sound delicious!
For specific flavors, Corner Catering recommends fresh herbs, such as sage, thyme and basil. Cranberries, too, make a wonderful addition to any winter wedding. “Cranberries always make me think winter!”
And to ensure all of the guests’ tastes are accounted for, not just for winter weddings but for through all of the seasons, Corner Catering suggests creating “… a ‘seasonal’ menu with choices for meat or seafood lovers and also something that vegetarians could also enjoy.” With as many people going vegan and vegetarian these days, this is a great piece of advice!
Other trends that may be fascinating to keep a look out for in 2016, according to CC, that you could tie into your winter wedding for a fun, creative twist are “… food trucks, action stations, family style dining, it’s almost like anything goes! Locally grown and organic foods are also a huge trend for this year. Late night snacks, themed food stations … for example, a french fry station with all different kinds of salt toppings. Fun, really creative menus with lots of flavor and color!!”
Creativity and flavor clearly does not have to be lost for winter weddings, even though the colder months have the reputation of being somewhat bland. If you embrace the season and create a warm, fun, comforting menu for your guests, you are sure to have people talking for months about your beautiful winter wonderland nuptials!
