Jennifer and Jacob met on eHarmony during their search for love almost three years ago. Jennifer and her friend, Brittany, originally set up the eHarmony profile to blog about all of the horrible dates that they thought Jennifer would go on. Deep down, Jennifer was hoping to meet a really great guy that she normally wouldn’t run into, and that is exactly what happened! “I never imagined that I would be married to a gorgeous pilot. Jake always jokes that I’m his internet wife, just like Weird Science.”
The surprise proposal took place while Jennifer and Jacob were vacationing in Charleston, South Carolina with Jacob’s family, and they had just gotten back from dinner when he disappeared. Jennifer found a little black bag with a handmade pirate map inside, and she knew adventure awaited. Jacob had drawn the entire condo area of where they were staying with a dotted line and an X marks the spot.
She finally found him sitting on a blanket with a bottle of wine on the beach. Jennifer later said that she felt like she was sitting on something, and Jacob said, “Well dig!” He was so nervous and jumpy that he accidentally spilled an entire glass of red wine all over Jennifer’s brand new white jacket from Victoria’s Secret. Jennifer laughed it off but definitely gave him a hard time.
Then, Jennifer dug up a leather box with a four page note inside. Jacob read the letter to her, describing his love for her and all of the things he was looking forward to accomplishing as a couple. He then asked Jennifer to marry him and pulled out the beautiful ring he created for her. She was so happy and of course said yes.“Turns out, no one in the entire world knew that he was going to propose except for my dad. He called and asked for permission a week before our trip. That meant everything to me, and truly showed Jake’s character.”
Jennifer and Jacob got married on September 12, 2015, at The Cathedral of the Incarnation. The day began a bit stressfully in the morning due to interstate closings throughout Nashville, but once Jennifer and her bridal party arrived to the hair salon, everything went smoothly.
The beautiful reception had a travel theme with white and gold elements. There were world globe centerpieces, sunflowers, white linens, and gold plate settings. Gorgeous white drapes hung from the ceiling with elegant floral decorations throughout the venue, including two extra-large branch pieces at the entryway.
Jennifer’s father was able to walk her down the aisle in the empty cathedral for the first look, and when she saw Jacob for the first time, she felt so relieved. “He calmed my nerves, kissed me cheek, and made me feel like nothing else in the entire day mattered except us.”
Another important first look took place between Jennifer and her father, Bill. When she saw him, she immediately began to cry. “My father has always been my person. I admire everything about him. He’s a genuine person, and always shows his love for God through his acts of kindness to strangers.” When Bill turned around to see his little girl, he gasped out of excitement and said “You’re all grown up now,” and read her a verse from his great-grandfather’s bible.
From the bride: “I loved being able to spend one on one time with my family and friends involved in the wedding, and I loved partying at the reception with everyone and dancing the night away! It was amazing; everything from the atmosphere, to everyone that was able to join, and even down to the amazing photographers and videographers capturing every minute. It was perfect.”
