Giving welcome bags to your wedding guests is such a great way to make them feel appreciated and special, especially when out of town guests travel to see you say your I Do’s. We recently spoke with Julie Shreck from Simply You Weddings about welcome bags and how they add to the overall experience for wedding guests. Julie Shreck also gave us some ideas for the contents of a great welcome bag!

Giving welcome bags is a great way to welcome guests to to a destination and set the tone of the wedding experience. It is also a great way to give guests information that they may need when they arrive, such as events, times, logistics, and destination specifics. When a couple decides to have a beautiful destination wedding, their guests will typically be traveling a long way for the wedding day, and this may even be their only vacation that year. Giving welcome bags to these guests is such a personal touch that shows each guest that there is something personal waiting for them as they arrive.

Julie Shreck told us that about half of her brides create welcome bags for their guests. The cost of welcome bags can get a little expensive, and if they are being delivered by the hotel, then there will be a delivery fee per room, so this is definitely something to think about when considering giving welcome bags. You may be wondering how to design a welcome bag or how to include a certain theme. Incorporating the destination of the wedding into the welcome bag is a wonderful idea, because guests will have a little slice of the destination to take home with them as a keepsake.

We asked Julie Shreck about the items that would create a wonderful welcome bag for guests attending a destination wedding in Key West. “Definitely a welcome letter from the couple and an itinerary of events to follow. Some great things that we have used in our bags:”
