“Light Me Up”

Like a soft blue glow on the radio dial
The song comes on and catches your monroe smile
You light me up
Like a spark wheel spinning on a silver lighter
The kick of your heartbeat couldn’t be brighter
Girl, cause you light me upLike fireworks, gasoline on bonfires
The flash before a gun fires
No matter what you do
Yeah baby You light me up
Like an old Hollywood spotlight
A sunset painted just right
With everything you do
Yeah, baby, you light me up
Baby, you light me upLike a lighthouse shining out to the sea
There’s no way you won’t get to me
Yeah, Cause you light me up
Like a lit fuse burning up a bottle rocket
Girl, whatever you’re doing don’t stop it
Cause, you light me upLike fireworks, gasoline on bonfires
The flash before a gun fires
No matter what you do
Yeah baby You light me up
Like an old Hollywood spotlight
A sunset painted just right
With everything you do
Yeah, baby, you light me up
Baby, you light me up

Baby You light me up
With everything you do, yeah

Like a blinding flash of a lighting strike
I see you cutting into the night
To light, to light me up

Like fireworks, gasoline on bonfires
The flash before a gun fires
No matter what you do
Yeah baby You light me up
Like an old Hollywood spotlight
A sunset painted just right
With everything you do
Yeah, baby, you light me up
Baby, you light me up

Baby you light me up
With everything you do, yeah
Baby you light me up
Baby you light me up

“For the last ten years, I’ve been writing songs through the voice of a woman: my incredible singing partner Jennifer. With my solo project, for the first time in a long while I got to sing my songs directly from me to you. “Light Me Up” is a love song, about how it feels to be loved by a woman. There’s something magic about the way someone looks at you when they love you — like you’re a superhero wearing a cape, even if that’s not always how you feel about yourself. That kind of love changes you for the better, forever. I wanted to capture that. I think it makes a great first dance song because it was written as a deeply romantic thank you, and what better emotion to express when a couple is sharing their first dance? It’s the gratitude you feel when you are lit up on the inside by the love of another person.”
