“I am nothing special; just a common man with common thoughts, and I’ve led a common life. There are no monuments dedicated to me and my name will soon be forgotten. But in one respect I have succeeded as gloriously as anyone who’s ever lived: I’ve loved another with all my heart and soul; and to me, this has always been enough.”

Today marks the 10th anniversary of New Line Cinema’s adaptation of Nicholas Sparks’ novel, The Notebook, which is arguably the most romantic movie of all-time (possibly. there are a lot of contenders on my list). The story of Allie and Noah is one of fate. A fierce summer southern romance is torn apart by social ranking only to prove that you can’t choose who you fall in love with, nor can you fight it from happening. The movie is filled with romantic quote after romantic quote and the chemistry between actors Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling is undeniable. It, to me, was the first romantic movie of its kind where I actually believed in the fairytale ending. Not only because I wanted it to happen, but Noah and Allie’s love story was real, like the couples we see in our pages everyday. In honor of this love story’s anniversary, I thought I would share this absolutely breathtaking engagement session recreation done by a couple in Canada and shot by Blushing Bride Studio.

“So it’s not gonna be easy. It’s going to be really hard; we’re gonna have to work at this everyday, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, forever, everyday. You and me… everyday.”

I mentioned earlier this month the trend of themed engagement shoots and this is yet another example. It has a theme, completely, but it is done in such a classic way it doesn’t scream it. It’s the perfect blend of imitation as flattery. I love every bit of this shoot. Let this couple, and others like them, inspire you to create your own fun engagement shoot. Maybe you all share a favorite movie, or book- let that drive the theme of your shoot. Maybe you both absolutely love a certain place (perhaps you even met there) and that can provide an outline for your shoot. There are plenty of ways to make your engagement shoot unique and special for you and your hubby.

“I think our love can do anything we want it to.”
