Weekend Worthy Flicks

In honor of Mean Girls‘ 10th anniversary (can we believe it has already been 10 years?), I thought it was only appropriate to offer up my five all-time favorite wedding movies I could watch on repeat, over and over and over. These are the movies you laugh in, cry in, and can’t get enough of. There are so many great wedding moments out there (Princess Bride anyone? Do we even need to mention Sarah Jessica Parker’s dress in the Sex and the City movie?) Share with me your favorites too!

5. Bride Wars

Starring: Kate Hudson, Anne Hathaway

Normally, wedding movies involve a bride and a groom; and although this one is no different, the story more or less centers around a bride and a bride. The love between two best friends. It takes place in New York City and the wedding venue is the Plaza- if nothing else, we can all agree Kate’s Vera Wang gown is what we call: perfection.

4. Bridesmaids

Starring: Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph

This is the best “girls” movie ever (okay, maybe not ever, but it is close). Somehow, Judd Apatow (producer of other great comedies) nailed the female comedy twice over. It has laughs and it has heartfelt moments, it actually captures how women feel. And is there any group you can relate to more than your bridesmaids? This is a great movie to catch with your girls before the big day.

3. Love Actually

Starring: Hugh Grant, Emma Thompson, and so many more!

Okay, so this isn’t exactly about a wedding. Though we can all admit that when Mark films Juliet at her wedding- it is pure magic. But I love this movie because it attacks love in a genuine way. Love isn’t always perfect or overly romantic, every love story is different. And this movie reminds us to love the love we have in our own lives. And it doesn’t get more romantic than that.

2.My Best Friend’s Wedding

Starring: Julia Roberts, Dermot Mulroney, Cameron Diaz

This romantic comedy is one of my absolute favorites about finding the love of your life, and what to do with him when you do. A classic case of best friend’s falling in love, this film follows a friendship along the bumpy road. A hilarious and beautiful film, this movie is sure to capture your heart as it did mine!

1. Father of the Bride

father of the bride

 Starring: Steve Martin, Diane Keaton

This is my absolute favorite movie. Not just in regards to weddings, but of all time. There is nothing sweeter than a father’s relationship with his daughter and the day he passes her on to her husband. No matter your relationship with your father, this movie is filled with laughs and hilarious moments in the days leading up to the wedding-something all you brides-to-be can relate to!

So pop some popcorn (or champagne) this weekend and enjoy these great, timeless wedding movies!
