Emma and Jason

With spring now here, we have a featured wedding to get you in the spring spirit! Emma & Jason were married at Fort Zachary Taylor in Key West, Florida on May 4, 2013. After knowing each other in high school, their friendship blossomed into a lifetime of love. We are so excited to share their gorgeous wedding day with you!

Jason asked Emma to marry him in April, 2012.  Emma had wanted a new purple fishing pole so Jason had ordered her one.  When he gave it to her one evening it had a beautiful shiny engagement ring attached to the end.  Jason asked Emma to fish with him for the rest of their lives and Emma said yes!

How did the day go?

The wedding day started early, around 7am.  Emma woke excited and tired from the night out before.  After she gathered all her stuff Jason drove her to the family’s home where the girls were getting ready.  All of the girls started with hair and makeup around 9:00 in the morning with Studio Marie Pierre.  It was a relaxing morning with mimosas and bloody marys, girl chat and excited emotion.  The boys had lunch at the Half Shell Raw Bar and came to the house to get ready in the guest cottage.  Once everyone was ready it was time for Emma to get in her dress with the help of her mother, Jason’s mother, and all the beautiful bridesmaids.  We did a first look and shot several photos around the house with the wedding party.  We traveled with our wedding party and parents to Fort Zachary Taylor beach on the Conch Train.  When we arrived we shared our love for one another in front of our friend and family that had traveled to be with us and listened to our mothers share loving words of wisdom by reading two poems.  After we said, “I do”, we traveled aboard the Conch Train with our entire group of wedding goers learning about the island and arriving at the Fury Catamaran for our reception.  The weather was windy and dancing our first dance and with our parents was a little more difficult than we planned but we laughed it off and enjoyed every moment.  For the duration of the cruise we danced, ate, and drank.  Once the reception was over and the Fury had docked we walked up to Sloppy Joe’s and partied the night away.

One of the biggest hits was our glow stick send off.  We wanted to do something unique and we thought the glow sticks would be a nice touch.  After our reception cruise we went out to Sloppy Joes Bar to continue the celebration.  Everyone was wearing multiple glow sticks and they were even a big hit at the bar.  Our guests had several people at the bar ask where they had bought their glow sticks.  Possible Key West business idea?  We think maybe.

Relax and enjoy planning the details.  Don’t get too caught up on what people think and make sure you do things the way you want them.  When the big day comes don’t stress and don’t blink because it will be gone before you know it.  Take it all in and enjoy what is happening.  Don’t save on the photographer, food, or drinks!  They’re worth the splurge.
